Catch-A-Sketch

I've been able to take some time between work, studies, and my social life to get some new sketches drawn on the 770, and thought I'd share them here. You'll notice that I have found a style of drawing that I like a lot with the device these days. You can find more pieces in the ITAG.

Also, take a walk on the Internet Tablet side at The Internet Walk site for a cool interactive Nokia N800 demo and even a chance to win an N800 for yourself and a friend.

No Time Like The Future

So it's been quite some time since my last post, and there have been some amazing new developments in the Internet Tablet space. Check it out...

- Carman connects the gadget geek to the auto geek with a class that only Nokia's Internet Tablets can handle. Handful has more info on the cool new application.

- Eduardo has been working on gconf-editor for the Internet Tablets.
- Ari Jaaksi posts his "high level roadmap" for a brief look at what's in store for the tablets.
- The Internet Tablet Art Gallery is always open to new visitors as well as new artists that wish to present their work done on the tablets.
- Popular Science has thrown out a challenge for some creative minds to "come up with the most compelling application, service, script, hardware addition or anything that you will use on the Nokia N800". Two chances to win, and time is of the essence.

Speeking of time, I've got to get back to work.

Oh yeah, one more thing...
- The Nokia 770 Internet Tablet drops to $299 at CompUSA

A Brief Revival

Wow, there's been a lot of developments while I've been away. Just to quickly recap on some interesting news...
- Maemo 2.2 'gregale' SDK is released, updating the 2.X development platform once again
- Maemo re-organizes the Application Catalog along with a new way to install applications
- A UMPC that's dressed in Maemo fashion was revealed and discussed
- Gizmo Call launched, allowing one to make calls right from your web browser [Linux support pending]
- A working FM radio was found in the N800 Internet Tablet
- Some curious minds from the community have hacked up a Window Manager installation with video proof that it works [1] [2]
- USB On The Go functionality was found shortly after finding the FM radio
- Quake 2 runs quite nicely on the N800 [unless the video is a hoax]
- A version of Canola is soon to be announced for the N800

And that's just in the last 6 days!

Well, it's back to work for yours truly. Still a lot to learn...

Cryopreservation

Recently, I've been given an opportunity that I would be insane not to capitalize on, but it will take some time for me to train for. This training time and effort will obviously take precedence over a lot of the time I spend with some of my personal projects.

This means that my time alloted to working with NET9, 3pm, solid.gold.code, and other projects will shift some for awhile in order to train and get certified for my upcoming position. I can't really say what this position is, or even the company name, due to the unique nature of my contract agreement, but it's definitely a "golden" opportunity that I'm sure many would understand me taking.

So, see you all again in the near future. :)

A LiMo To Go With Your "Tux"

So our fine feathered friend has got a fancy new ride, and with some heavy hitters lined up to bring the new open mobile platform to fruition, this may have the big boys like AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile sweating a bit.

Atlanta To Get Muni-fied

It's about time too. I mean, Atlanta is home for EarthLink after all. It just makes no sense why they didn't roll out municipal wi-fi here sooner. Must be that "dirty south" politics slowing things down.

Also, check out D.A.V.E., Seagate's new portable storage device. Might be just the killer accessory us Internet Tablet users have been waiting for.
